Anyone who served on board the Sphinx during her tour in Vietnam is considered to have been exposed to herbicides (Agent Orange). Tomorrow three new diseases will be added to the AO list for presumptives in the Federal Register. Diseases Associated With Exposure to Certain Herbicide Agents (Hairy Cell Leukemia and Other Chronic B Cell Leukemias, Parkinsonâ??s Disease and Ischemic Heart Disease). I urge all who have one or more of these conditions and have not filed a claim with the VA to do so ASAP.

I was a storekeeper on the great ARL-24 during 1954. Some of the hard working storekeepers were E. Skiles, J. Stiles, T. Barry, H. Smith, D. Jungward,F. Steiner, Herman, K. Proctor. Sorry if I missed anyone. Wish I could make the reunion - maybe next time. Vernoy Willis SK1

I was onboard Sphinx from 87-88 in Panama. I was in deck division, under the leadership of CDR Londot and CDR Kendall. Recieved my first Navy Achievement Medal, was mater helmsman during sea anchor detail, avoiding a collision coming out of the channel. Went onto YN "A" school, presently serving in the Navy Reserve.

I was on board from 1967 in New Orleans to April 1969 in the Mekong Delta. I was wondering if anyone on board during her tour on the inland water ways knows how we got our fresh water? I am sure our Evaps ran while in country but have been told it was not Naval policy to take on river water to make potable water. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
